Jamna Lal Bajaj Awards 2024
1. This award was established in 1980 in memory of Janaki Devi Bajaj.
2. It is given for the outstanding contribution for the development of women & children.
3. It's also an international award for promoting Gandhian values outside India.
4. The International award of Jamna Lal Bajaj was established in 1988 on the birth anniversary of Jamna Lal Bajaj.
5. The awards are given to individuals for outstanding contribution in the fields of constructive work in society, application of science & technology for rural development, development and welfare of women and children, international award for promoting Gandhian values outside India.
6. In 2024 the recipients of this award were given below with their respective fields
1. Award for constructive work
Shree Girijanandan of jharkhand. He senses the need of the society and advocates for a meaningful change. His commitment to social justice is reflected in numerous initiatives including education, healthcare, women's empowerment and development in Bihar & jharkhand.
2. Award for application of science & technology for rural development.
Rashmi Bharti of uttarakhand.
She has created livelihood opportunities through development and dissemination of appropriate technology.
Revival and preservation of traditional handloom skills and conservation of biodiversity and natural resources.
108 villages and 20,000 people benefited.
3. Award for development and welfare of women and children
Dr. Tulasi Munda
She provided education and schools to the deprived children of her tribe.
Gandhian philosophy of ' Gram Swaraj'
4. International award for promoting Gandhian values outside India.
Mr. Erik Kumedisa
He is on a mission to change and transform unjust situations in Congo for people's betterment.
He set up the Gandhi monk community who are committed to change practices that generate violence.
