An officer is a member of an armed force or uniformed service who holds a position of authority. To be able to lead and control, requires the ability to motivate yourself, inspire others and make tough decisions efficiently. When you join to become an Air Force Officer, we’ll help you develop your leadership and management skills, preparing you fully to take on the challenge of leading in real life situations. Lessons in team work, developing communication skills and confidence, honing strategic and dynamic thinking and preparing you to face pressures with ease are grilled into an Officer during his training. The valiant boys could be part of the Indian Air Force family by applying for NDA( National Defence Academy)

Candidates, short-listed for Indian Air Force after the initial selection procedure, go through a rigorous three-year training regimen at the National Defence Academy at Khadakwasla, followed by specialised training at one of the training establishment. Thereafter, they are Commissioned as Permanent Commission Officers and posted as pilots at any of the Air Force Stations.

You can join NDA by taking the exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). This exam is conducted twice a year in all major cities throughout India.

Age - 16 ½ to 19 1/2 years(at the time of commencement of course)

Nationality – Indian

Gender - Men only

Educational Qualifications - 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics. Appearing final year students can also eligible to apply.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA ( With Effect From 01 Apr 2013 )

GROUP X trades(Except Education Instructor) 17- 21 Years Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English. OR Three year Diploma course in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile / Computer Science / Instrumentation Technology / Information Technology) from a Government recognised Polytechnic Institute with 50% marks in overall aggregate, and 50% marks in English in Diploma or in Intermediate / Matriculation if English is not a subject in Diploma
GROUP X : Education Instructor Trade 20 - 25 Years Graduate in Arts, Commerce or Science with B Ed degree or two years teaching experience in a Government recognised School/College, with minimum 50% marks in aggregate in Graduation as well as B Ed. OR
20 - 28 Years Passed MA English / M Sc in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science / MCA with B Ed degree or 2 Years teaching experience in a Government recognised School / College.
GROUP Y Trades (Except Med Asst and Musician) 17- 21 Years Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / equivalent examination in any stream / subjects approved by Central / State Education Boards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English. OR Passed two year vocational course affiliated / recognized by CBSE / State Education Boards/ Councils duly recognized at par with 10+2 by AIU with minimum 50% marks in aggregate, and 50% marks in English in Vocational Course or in Intermediate / Matriculation if English is not a subject in Vocational Course.
GROUP Y: Med Asst Trade 17- 21 Years Passed 10+2 / Intermediate / equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate, and 50% marks in English.
GROUP Y : Musician Trade 17 - 25 Years Passed Matriculation /10 th class or equivalent with minimum pass marks from any Government recognised School/Boards and should be proficient in playing at least one of the following musical instruments: Trumpet / Bass / Violin / Saxophone / Clarinet / Euphonium / Jazz-Drum / Piccolo / Bass Trombone / Key Board / Guitar / Sarod / Viola / Cello / Contra Bass (String Bass).
Note: The upper age limit on date of enrolment is 21 years.

To get selected as an Airman, the candidate must be physically and mentally FIT to perform duties in any part of the world, climate and terrain. Medical Standards to become an Airman are as follows:-
Visual Standards and Height As per table given below.
Weight Weight should be proportionate to height and age.
Chest Minimum range of expansion : 5 cm.
Hearing Should have normal hearing i.e. able to hear forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters by each ear separately
Dental Should have healthy gums, good set of teeth and minimum 14 dental points.
Health Should have no medical or surgical deformity and should be free from all communicable diseases & skin ailments.

Note
